BcI Polymorphism

Molecular Haematology

Description

The Bcl I polymorphism is a T/A nucleotide alteration in intron 18 of the FVIII gene. A 142bp fragment flanking the sequence is amplified and then digested with the enzyme Bcl I. Fragments of 99 and 43bp result if the T allele is present. The 142bp fragment remains intact in the presence of the A allele. Results are analysed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
